Unhealthy eating, no exercise, genes, and hormonal issues can cause obesity. According to WHO, in 2016, 1.9 billion adults 18 and older were overweight and 650 million were obese . Obesity is not a cosmetic concern . It is a silent killer that can lead to a plethora of health problems such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Obesity affects not only our physical health but also our emotional and mental well-being. It can cause depression, low self-esteem, and social isolation. Obesity is costly , not for individuals but also for society. It costs billions of dollars each year in healthcare expenses . Furthermore, it’s a burden on the healthcare system.
